15 November 2009

Just came back from an exciting two weeks in beautiful Jamaica. My trip was filled to the brim meeting with the community, potential and current donors and supporters, and the BMP Jamaica-based staff. Everyone was super friendly and eager to help.

I sat in on an afterschool session, helped organize some of your medical donations in the clinic, and watched as the women of Penlyne created beautiful eco-weave bags. I worked my poor staff to all hours, reviewing our programs and gathering suggestions for improvement and change.

I was also present at the creation of the Community Advisory Board. The Board, comprised of citizens from Hagley Gap and Penlyne, will be our liaison to the thoughts and desires of the community. It will help us to design programs and projects that are more responsive and more adapted to the needs of the area.

I took loads of pictures and will be posting some of them to the BMP website over the next few weeks. Some will be used in the upcoming edition of the BMP newsletter. The newsletter will come out quarterly starting this month and will feature articles from all facets of the BMP programs.
