World Water Day is 22 March 2010.

We are spoiled in the US. We turn the spigot and have good, clean drinkable water pouring out.

This is not true for many parts of the world including Hagley Gap and Penlyne Castle. They used to have water coming out of their house spigots but this system was destroyed in a hurricane and never replaced.

Clean water is so every important to all of us. It is one of the major reasons why we are not awash with internal parasites (which is not a good thing I can tell you from personal experience), why most of our children grow up healthy and strong and why we do not have to spend our hard-earned money to buy expensive bottled water.

Clean water is easy to supply. You find a clean source (or a way to clean a water source) and pump and pipe it to the waiting drinking glass. But it is expensive to do so, especially in a place like Hagley Gap where a well has to be at least 1000 feet deep and where not everyone lives close to each other.

But we believe that it is possible to bring clean water to each home in the Gap and know that we can make this happen with your help.
